When you arrive at our location, stop at the office and unload all your people and gear. One person can then park the car in the lower parking lot(down the hill) and walk back up. You will then check in at the desk. Please have the reservation name and time ready and have your liability waivers completed in advance. You should bring a lockable cooler (or strap a bungee cord around it) with plenty of drinks and food. After checking in, our friendly staff will shuttle you up the river for either a full day or half day float- your choice. We do not drop off for the full float(11 miles) past 9am and the half float(5 miles) past 1:00. A leisurely pace(including stops) is about 2 miles per hour. You are welcome to take as much time as you want as long as you are back before the assigned time.
If you are unsure of your skills, rest at ease. Our single person kayaks are the most stable, maneuverable, and comfortable way down the river. They are beginner friendly. Be sure to bring a medium to small cooler- bag coolers work best. The storage platform behind the seat will not accommodate a large cooler. If you have extra gear, consider upgrading to the premium Jackson Staxx for more storage space.
Helpful Tips:
1. Wear shoes that tie or regular water shoes....a lot of people loose flip-flops.
2. Pack all items in a water proof bag (dry bag) that you don't want to get wet, tie all items to the watercraft, and leave things you don't want to lose, rings, watches, billfolds, money, necklaces, etc.
3. Bring sunscreen and bug spray.
4. Bring something to keep glasses or sunglasses on.
5. Bring back as much as you take with you ...cans, paper, but don't litter our river...pack out what you pack in. We provide litter sacks.
6. If you are with a group, plan for a lead and a tail person, and no one should get out from between them.
7. Do not throw rocks once you return to our location. There are too many people nearby.
8. All fisherman must have a fishing license, the fine for fishing without a license is quite high.
9. All children under age 13 must wear their life jacket at all times, this is a state law.
10. If you have a disability that hinders your ability to perform occasional strenuous activity, we do not recommend this adventure.
